Catch Me Again

I think of you in colors that don’t exist,

And dream of you in ones that do.

From sunrise to sunset,

The dealers play.

A card in hand,

Deal? They say.

I drew my luck a second time,

Thinking, a four-leaf clover was by my side.

So deal me a card I can cash in,

No ifs, no buts, we’ve got this,

All in.

The sun dipped low,

And the clouds creeped in.

Oh, how quickly the tides turned,

One, two, before we could begin.

I take a breath,

The candle burns,

The flame dances,

As the table turns.

As twilight broke,

And the lights came clear,

The hand that was played

Was nowhere near.

Fate, it seemed, has come to play,

It chose a game,

That challenged night from day.

Here we go, another time,

Hopes held high,

Fingers crossed through mine.

So deal me a card I can cash in,

That paints in colors we can imagine.

Catch me again, just once more,

Here and now…forevermore.
