Because Of You

Once a dazzling shower,

Luminous and enchanting,

Dewy in vibrant color.

In the blink of an eye, a veil shrouds the sky,

Painting a picture that has dimmed to twilight.

Because of you, I dream in greys and blues.

Because of you, the music in me has lost its muse.

Because of you, the calmest of drizzles is now a soothing storm.

Drowning out the fullest of moons and the brightest of suns.

Today, it rains — and rains for you.

Clearing the scattered clouds,

For the sunbeams in me to, one day, peek through.

As the seconds, minutes, and hours tick by,

So do we — slow and intent,

Creating space where hope may, once again, take flight.
